Our Story

Image of child with book Kitab Development was founded as a Minority Business Enterprise to address the growing need for affordable housing in Utah. Yahya Yussuf, a corporate strategist with extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, and Amir Boulos, an affordable housing developer, joined forces to create a company dedicated to building and preserving sustainable, community-centered housing.

Yahya’s work with the Kitab Foundation, a nonprofit he founded while he worked in corporate strategy, gave him firsthand insight into the challenges faced by underserved communities in Utah. While working to provide resources for refugees and promote literacy, he recognized that many families also struggled to find safe and affordable housing.

Image of child with book Having worked in the field, Amir sought ways to better serve communities and make a more direct impact. With a proven track record in real estate finance and affordable housing, he has played a key role in the development and financing of over 2,000 multifamily units.

Together, Yahya and Amir combined their strengths—Yahya’s strategic focus and community-driven approach, and Amir’s technical expertise and industry knowledge to tackle one of the most pressing issues of our time. Kitab Development leverages this partnership to address the affordable housing crisis, creating homes that empower underserved populations and foster thriving communities.
